MADISON, Wis. – Family Friendly Wisconsin released the following statement today, celebrating the one-year anniversary of the American Rescue Plan, and the much- needed relief it has provided working families across Wisconsin.

Brita Olsen, state director of Family Friendly Wisconsin:

“President Joe Biden signed the American Rescue Plan into law a year ago today, and it remains a historic piece of legislation that addressed economic and public health crises caused and exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“From administering vaccines and making health care more affordable, to the expanded child tax credit and economic relief payments, working people were finally provided with the resources needed to support themselves and their families, and to begin to recover from the pandemic. The American Rescue Plan has also accelerated job growth across the state, and folks are getting back to work.

“But, the work is not done. Family Friendly Wisconsin calls on Sens. Tammy Baldwin and Ron Johnson to work to pass legislation that lowers costs of everyday expenses working families face, including prescription drug costs and child care and pre-k costs, and establishes a national paid family and medical leave program.”

President Biden’s American Rescue Plan has made an incredible impact in Wisconsin alone.

  • Administered over 9 million vaccine shots. Now, 71 percent of Wisconsinites have received at least one dose of the vaccine, and 65 percent are fully vaccinated.

  • Sent monthly child tax credits to the families of 1,056,000 children in Wisconsin.

  • Cut premiums for the average Wisconsin family of four receiving health care through the Affordable Care Act by $611 a month.

  • Delivered over 2.9 million economic relief payments of up to $1,400 to Wisconsinites.

  • Created over 51,000 jobs in Wisconsin, and cut the unemployment rate in Wisconsin from 3.8 percent in January 2021 to 2.8 percent in December 2021.
