Brownsville, TX – Forward Latino, a non-partisan, non-profit advocacy and service organization with members and affiliates in 29 states applaud the passage of the bipartisan “Safe Communities Act.”

National President Darryl Morin stated “We want to thank President Joe Biden, leadership in the United States Senate, Speaker Pelosi, and especially Senators Chris Murphy, John Cornyn, Krysten Sinema and Thom Tillis for their roles in making this happen.

Hispanics in America are twice as likely to die due to gun violence and four times more likely to be wounded by a firearm than our white counterparts. The Safer Communities Act signed in to law by President Biden this morning, represents real progress towards improving safety not just in our Hispanic community, but across our country.”
