Franklin, WI – Forward Latino, a non-partisan, non-profit service, and advocacy organization is disappointed by today’s decision and will review today’s finding in its entirety. The court’s ruling issues a stay of another court order that was to force the federal government to lift a rule that uses Title 42 authority, after it found the rule’s implementation to be “arbitrary and capricious.”

Darryl Morin, Forward Latino National President issued the following statement:

“Forward Latino will immediately begin reviewing today’s United States Supreme Court decision. It is important for all to know today’s decision is only temporary. We remain confident that the rule will be lifted as the statutory authority of Title 42 can only be invoked during periods of credible threat to U.S. public health. This follows decisions by both a federal court and U.S. Appellate court, that found the initial implementation of the Title 42 rule to be unlawful.

Sadly, today’s ruling will only grow the scale of the problem at the border and the injustice, as the number of those waiting will continue to grow, and those fleeing extreme persecution, violence and poverty, will fall victim to more of the same. Given that immigration policy is critical not only to our national security, but to the health of our economy and our adherence to our founding principles enshrined in the U.S. Declaration of Independence and our Constitution, we call upon both chambers of Congress to use this time and immediately begin the legislative process to fix our nation’s broken immigration system. Any responsible organization addresses known problems at the root cause so that the entity can prosper. We should expect no less from those with whom we entrust the care of our nation. Forward Latino stands ready to assist in such efforts.”
