MADISON – Today, Wisconsin State Treasurer and candidate for U.S. Senate Sarah Godlewski slammed Ron Johnson after he said he wouldn’t fight for more than 1,000 new jobs in his own backyard.

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: ‘It’s not like we don’t have enough jobs here in Wisconsin’: Ron Johnson won’t try to land Oshkosh Corp. postal vehicle work

Republican U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson said Saturday he won’t try to persuade a Wisconsin manufacturer to place more than 1,000 new jobs in his hometown.

“I wouldn’t insert myself to demand that anything be manufactured here using federal funds in Wisconsin,” Johnson told reporters after appearing at a “Parent Empowerment Rally” in Washington County. “Obviously, I’m supportive of it. But in the end, I think when using federal tax dollars, you want to spend those in the most efficient way and if it’s more efficient, more effective to spend those in other states, I don’t have a real problem with that.”

“Ron Johnson doesn’t give a damn about Wisconsin workers. A U.S. Senator should fight tooth and nail to bring good jobs and taxpayer dollars back to our state, instead, he’s just giving up,” said Sarah Godlewski. “Wisconsin deserves a Senator who will actually get things done for the people of our state, and that’s exactly why I’m running.”

Last month, Godlewski traveled to Oshkosh to meet with Wisconsinites and discuss the kitchen table issues they worry most about and how Ron Johnson has turned his back on our state–today serves as yet another example of him doing just that. Godlewski is the best candidate to unseat the self-dealing right-winger in November. In 2018, she outperformed the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and Attorney General and won Winnebago County, Johnson’s own county that he carried in 2016.
