Milwaukee (May 11, 2022) – Today, Anna Hodges, Democratic candidate for Milwaukee County Clerk of Circuit Court, announced that she has received endorsements from respected leaders in the Wisconsin legal community: former Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Louis Butler and former Milwaukee County Chief Judge Michael Skwierawski.

Her integrity, her proven ability, and her commitment to justice set her apart as the best and most qualified candidate.”

Former Justice Butler served on the Wisconsin Supreme Court from 2004 to 2008 and was the first and only Black justice to serve on the court in its history. Butler previously served as a Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge from 2002 to 2004, a Milwaukee Municipal Court Judge from 1992 to 2002, and an Assistant Public Defender from 1979 to 1992. Former Chief Judge Skwierawski served as Chief Judge of the Milwaukee County Circuit Court from 1998 to 2003 and as a Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge from 1978 to 2003. He was previously an attorney in private practice and an Assistant District Attorney for Milwaukee County.
Hodges entered the race for Milwaukee County Clerk of Circuit Court in early 2022 following a career of nearly 30 years in public service, culminating in four years as Chief Deputy Clerk of Circuit Court. Hodges previously served as Civil Division Administrator in the Clerk of Circuit Court’s office and worked for the First Judicial District and in state and county government. With the support of community advocates and respected legal practitioners, Hodges is running to expand access to justice and pursue bold innovation to make our court system more efficient.
