(Onalaska, WI) – Today, West Salem native Ryan Huebsch announced his candidacy for Wisconsin’s 94th Assembly District seat.
“Wisconsin, like much of the nation, is struggling under the poor decisions of our leaders in both Madison and in Washington,” said Huebsch. “From our unaffordable economy, to our childrens’ education, from health care for our families to the way our elections are run, partisan arguing has replaced working together. Spending more of our tax money seems to be the only solution offered. We deserve and expect better. I intend to bring fresh energy and common-sense ideas from Western Wisconsin to Madison.”
Huebsch, who is running as a Republican, said his candidacy is based upon bringing a strong voice with deep local roots to the Capitol in Madison.
“I was born in Onalaska and raised in West Salem. I attended Western Technical College and graduated from UW-L. I am proud of my roots, but I’ve seen during my time working in the state Capitol how Western Wisconsin communities and our Coulee Region point of view has been forgotten when critical decisions are being made,” explained Huebsch. “We have a rare opportunity to change the direction of our state and nation. I want our people and our voice to be at the forefront of these essential reforms.”
After graduating with honors from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in 2018, Huebsch spent three years as a legislative aide to Wisconsin Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald (R-Juneau) and Senator Eric Wimberger (R-Green Bay). A resident of Onalaska, Huebsch is the oldest son of Mike and Valerie Huebsch of West Salem. Mike Huebsch served as the Representative for the 94th Assembly District from 1995-2011 and as Speaker of the Assembly in 2007-08.
Currently, the 94th Assembly District includes Onalaska, Holmen, West Salem, Bangor and the rest of La Crosse County with the exception of the city of La Crosse, half of the town of Shelby and the Town of Campbell (French Island).
