JULY 27, 2022—Husch Blackwell is pleased to announce that Smitha Chintamaneni has joined the firm’s Financial Services & Capital Markets industry group as a partner in the firm’s Milwaukee office.
Chintamaneni is a noted real estate and tax attorney who routinely assists clients with difficult, project-related challenges, including eminent domain disputes, taxation, transactions, zoning, permitting, and land use. She represents both private businesses and individuals, as well as governmental entities, and also has substantial litigation experience in state and federal courts. She has also made oral arguments in front of the Wisconsin Supreme Court and the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
“Smitha brings a unique skill set to our Wisconsin-based team. Recent federal legislation, like last year’s federal infrastructure law and the proposed semiconductor bill, will provide project developers with the financial wherewithal to take on vital and much needed projects; however, there are still obstacles to getting shovels in the ground. That’s where Smitha shines—she understands how to solve problems and has a broad practice that allows her to look at things in a comprehensive way,” said Jacque Albus, the head of Husch Blackwell’s Financial Services & Capital Markets industry group.
“Husch Blackwell’s full-service offering allows me to provide my clients with a compelling value proposition,” said Chintamaneni. “Large-scale developments—whether it’s a pipeline, a manufacturing plant, or a corporate campus—involve a lot of moving parts and complexity, and this firm has distinguished itself in its ability to provide very sophisticated and practical advice. I look forward to helping the firm grow here in Wisconsin and beyond.”
Prior to her arrival at Husch Blackwell, Chintamaneni served as a partner with the Milwaukee based law firm of von Briesen & Roper, s.c. and served as the co-chair of that firm’s real estate group. She was listed by Milwaukee Biz Times as a 2020 “Notable Women in Law” and has been consistently named among industry leaders by The Best Lawyers in America in the areas of Construction Law, Real Estate, and Real Estate Litigation. Chintamaneni is a frequent author and speaker on eminent domain, condemnation, and takings, and she is a past co-chair of the Milwaukee Bar Association’s Real Property Section. She also belongs to the Economic Development Committee of the Wisconsin Policy Forum and the Public Policy Committee of NAIOP’s Wisconsin chapter.
