Madison, Wis. — Momentum at the Institute for Reforming Government (IRG) continues to grow as the organization announced today the addition of Alex Ignatowski as its Director of State Budget and Government Reform. Alex has a strong background and experience in the Executive Branch including working in former Governor Scott Walker’s Administration as a cabinet-level position at Department of Financial Institutions, policy and legislative adviser at the Departments of Health Services, and adviser to several Public Service Commission commissioners. He also worked in the office of Gov. Walker and, most recently, was legislative policy adviser to Waukesha County. Alex Ignatowski can be reached at ai@reforminggovernment.org. His first day was Tuesday, July 5.

“I could not be more excited to welcome Alex to our growing team at IRG. He is a critical hire at a critical juncture for Wisconsin. With the administrative state infringing on economic growth and our freedoms, a stagnant economy, and an overreaching executive branch filled with bureaucratic bloat, Wisconsin needs bold leadership and reforms.

“With our expanded policy team and focus on reforms, IRG will continue to be at the forefront of conducting comprehensive research and analysis of state agencies, developing reforms that expand opportunities for Wisconsinites while making Wisconsin a national leader in conservative governance.”

– CJ Szafir, President, IRG

The hiring of Ignatowski continues a significant period of growth for IRG, which has grown from one full-time employee to five, in addition to seven policy fellows, in just over two years. IRG President CJ Szafir noted how these successes are only possible because of the generosity of our supporters and leadership of the IRG Board of Directors.

“It is an exciting time to be joining the IRG team and I look forward to getting to work. IRG is known as a leader in delivering innovative and deeply-researched policy directives that ensure all Wisconsinites have the opportunity to succeed and prosper. I am eager to help build upon their already stellar track record of achieving policy-wins for the state.”

– Alex Ignatowski, Director of State Budget and Government Reform, IRG

Along with Szafir and Ignatowski, IRG’s full-time team includes Chris Reader, Executive Vice President; Madison Hartmann, Director of External Affairs; and Quinton Klabon, Senior Research Director.  To learn more about the Institute for Reforming Government, click here.
