Madison, Wis. — IRG Action Fund Executive Vice President, Chris Reader, released the following statement Tuesday after UI and welfare reform legislation passed the Wisconsin Senate.

“Thank you to Republicans in the Senate for focusing on the worker shortage that has held back our economy for too long. The bills passed today crack down on fraudulent interview and hiring ghosting, protect the UI Trust Fund to ensure benefits are available for those that need them while keeping taxes low for employers, and better aligning UI benefits with the real world job conditions. All of the reforms will help get people back into the workforce, filling the “help wanted” signs that are hanging in storefronts statewide. Governor Evers should sign this common sense legislation to boost the economy and bring real help to employers who are struggling to find workers.”

Recently, Chris Reader testified in the Wisconsin Senate in support of unemployment insurance reforms. A letter from Ariens Co. was also submitted to the committee sharing concerns of job abandonment and interview ghosting.
