Waukesha County – Former Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner made the following statement after the results of Tuesday’s primary race for governor were finalized:

“I congratulate Tim Michels on his primary win last night to advance to the general election as the Republican nominee for governor.

My relationship with Tim and Barbara goes back many years.  I supported Tim when he ran for the US Senate in 2004, and he served as a member on my US Service Academy Selection Committee when I represented Wisconsin’s Fifth Congressional District.  I’ve seen first-hand his dedication, insight and qualifications as a leader.

I supported Rebecca Kleefisch in the primary but that battle is now over. I am calling on all of her supporters to unite behind and work to elect Tim Michels to reclaim the Governor’s Office.  Tim has my full support, and I stand ready to do whatever it takes to send him to Madison to correct all of Tony Evers’ failures.”

Sensenbrenner, a Republican, resides in Waukesha County.  He retired from the US House of Representatives in 2020 after representing Wisconsin for forty two years, and is Wisconsin’s longest serving Congressman.   Widowed, he has two sons, Frank (Margaret) and Bob (Diana), and a grandson, Kevin.
