MADISON – Assembly Majority Leader Jim Steineke (R-Kaukauna) released the following statements after state Representative Samantha Kerkman (R-Salem Lakes) announced she is resigning from the state Assembly to focus on her new role as county executive for Kenosha County:

“Representative Kerkman has been a staple of our Assembly Republican caucus for over two decades. Her years of experience have been incredibly helpful to new members and will be greatly missed.

“Sam not only served in leadership as Majority Caucus Sergeant, but she also chaired the Joint Legislative Audit Committee and served on the Assembly Committee on Ways and Means. Through these positions, Sam has kept a watchful key on your tax dollars to ensure our government is efficient and effective.

“I know Sam will bring this stewardly approach with her to Kenosha County. I wish her and her family the best in this new endeavor.”
