WEST ALLIS, WI — Jessica Katzenmeyer (D), who is running for the U.S. House of Representatives in Wisconsin’s 5th Congressional District, has released a video statement reflecting on the one-year anniversary of the January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol. The video can be viewed HERE. A transcript of the statement can be viewed below. “A year ago from today, violent insurrectionists tried to overturn our democracy at the US Capitol resulting in multiple deaths and injuries. One officer was killed during the insurrection. Another four were killed later by suicide and over 140 officers were injured. This was fueled by President Trump and Republicans like Scott Fitzgerald who pushed the Big Lie and would rather destroy our country instead of losing an election fairly. Senator Ron Johnson lied to us saying this was largely a peaceful protest knowing the violence that was happening outside. Whether it’s leading a phony investigation based on zero evidence, trying to overturn our own elections commission, and pushing through gerrymandered maps, Republicans will do anything to rig our elections to maintain power. We must hold our elected leaders accountable. My name is Jessica Katzenmeyer. I give a damn about the truth. It’s time to put a real leader in congress. Join me and let’s do this.” To learn more about Jessica and her vision, please go to jessicaforwis.com. For updates, follow her at @JessicaForWis on social media.
