On June 7, 2021, Kenosha County Eye Editor Kevin Mathewson made a public records request to the  Kenosha County DA’s office. Mathewson Requested a copy of photos that Rittenhouse Prosecutor, Jim  Kraus took in court without permission from the judge. This violated local rule 1.6 and Supreme Court rule  61.06. Kenosha DA Michael Graveley denied release of the photos to protect ADA Kraus. Mathewson sued,  representing himself for all but the last couple of weeks of the suit. Graveley was granted permission from  Governor Evers to represent himself. After learning the facts of the case, Governor Evers later rescinded this  permission, assigning the Attorney General’s office to represent the DA. The AG’s office quickly settled the  case, giving Mathewson the requested records and $1,100. “No one is exempt from the public records  statutes, not even an elected DA. It’s a shame I had to sue to get public documents.” Said Mathewson
