GOP state Rep. Samantha Kerkman will be on the April ballot for Kenosha County exec after finishing second in a three-way race.

Kenosha County Clerk of Circuit Courts Rebecca Matoska-Mentink finished first at 44.4 percent, with all precincts reporting. Kerkman was at 38 percent, about 900 votes behind.

Kenosha County Supv. Jerry Gulley was in third at 17.5 percent.

The winner in the April election will succeed Jim Kreuser, a former Dem state rep who left the Legislature after he was elected to the post in 2008. Kreuser, the longest serving exec in Kenosha County history, endorsed Matoska-Mentink

If Kerkman wins the April election, she would have to resign her Assembly seat.
