[Waukesha, Wis.] — Candidate for governor Rebecca Kleefisch released the following statement on Wednesday after the Joint Committee for the Review of Administrative Rules stopped an emergency rule issued by the Wisconsin Elections Commission to allow clerks to cure ballots:

“Unelected Madison bureaucrats have no business rewriting our election laws to meet Democrats’ demands for ballot curing. As governor, I’ll abolish the Wisconsin Elections Commission because of their repeated pattern of ignoring the law and give its power to an elected office accountable to voters.

“Thank you to Chairman Nass, Chairman Neylon, and committee members for taking this bold action and standing up against this overstep by the Wisconsin Elections Commission. We must continue to hold WEC accountable until it can be abolished.”
