[Waukesha, WI] – Wisconsin gubernatorial candidate Rebecca Kleefisch released the following statement Monday after shots were fired in Milwaukee, injuring 21, after Friday’s Milwaukee Bucks playoff game.
“Milwaukee desperately needs law and order. David Crowley, Cavalier Johnson and local leaders need a sincere plan to prevent the Deer District from becoming the ‘Fear District.’ Criminals must know lawlessness won’t be tolerated and comes with severe consequences. There are laws not being enforced, too few cops, a DA’s office that disregards the advice of law enforcement and judges that play ‘catch and release’ with criminals.
“I’m also urging the business community to intervene as soon as possible and apply pressure to elected officials. For the sake of our families and our economy, we cannot let violent criminals terrorize downtown Milwaukee.
“The Bucks have worked hard for the eyes of the country to be focused on Milwaukee. This should be our moment to impress the world, not scare people.
“Tony Evers won’t lead, but I will. When I’m governor, I will work to make Milwaukee safe again, and I won’t back down.”
