[Waukesha, WI] – Rebecca Kleefisch released the following statement repeating her call for Parole Commission Chairman John Tate to be fired after news broke on Friday afternoon that the board reversed its decision to allow parole in the case of Douglas Balsewicz:

“Tony Evers’ liberal policies on crime are RADICALLY unpopular,” Rebecca Kleefisch said. “It shouldn’t take an election year to do the right thing for Wisconsin families. John Tate must still be fired to prevent this from continuing.

“If Tony Evers won’t fire Tate from the Parole Commission, then the State Senate should reject his confirmation.”

On Thursday, Evers dodged questions from reporters looking for answers as to why the Parole Commission initially planned to release Douglas Balsewicz after serving only 25 years out of his 80-year sentence. Balsewicz stabbed his wife 42 times in front of his two children.
