Milwaukee – This past week, Alex Lasry released his “Workers’ Bill of Rights,” a plan dedicated to protecting the rights of workers and unions across Wisconsin that has been endorsed by leaders across the state.
Lasry’s plan calls for guaranteeing all workers the right to organize, establishing a $15 federal minimum wage, guaranteeing paid leave to all workers, and outlawing right-to-work laws, among other policy changes.

“We’re proud to support Alex Lasry because we know he’s the biggest union supporter in this year’s Democratic primary,” said Terry McGowan, IUOE General Vice President and Local 139 President/Business Manager. “If we send him to the U.S. Senate, he’ll guarantee the right of every worker to be a member of a union. When constructing the Fiserv Forum he ensured that all 10,000 new jobs that were created were filled with union labor, and we’re confident that he’ll bring that same level of support for unions with him to Washington–he’s done it before and we’re proud to stand alongside him as he does it again.”
“With inflation at an all-time high, having a good-paying job is as important as ever. Alex Lasry is running a campaign dedicated to putting money back in the pocket of working people,” said Tom Gergerich, IATSE Local 18 Business Manager. “He’ll fight to raise the federal minimum wage to $15, add indexing, and parity for tipped workers. Alex is a job creator, and every job he’s created pays a $15 minimum wage. That’s the kind of fighter that the working class needs in Washington.”
“28 states have ‘right to work’ laws–terrible legislation that takes away rights from workers and drives down wages. Republicans, especially Ron Johnson, support these practices that significantly hinder the working class. When Alex Lasry beats Ron Johnson, he’ll make ‘right to work illegal,” said Wisconsin Teamsters Joint Council No.39. “We’re proud to endorse him because we know that he’ll stand up for unions, unlike our current do-nothing incumbent Ron Johnson.”
“For far too long Ron Johnson has sent jobs overseas and worked with companies that are as anti-union as it gets. Meanwhile, Alex Lasry has been one of Wisconsin’s biggest union supporters,” said James A Vick, Director of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers District Council of Wisconsin. “With him working alongside Tammy Baldwin, we won’t have to worry about federal government partnerships with unions–he’ll fight to require that the government only does business with companies who pay living wages, provide a safe workplace, and respect workers’ rights to organize a union. Wisconsin deserves someone who will always put the rights of workers first, and Alex has that proven track record.”
“Plain and simple, Ron Johnson is a union buster–he sends jobs overseas and doesn’t fight for Wisconsin’s working class. He’s even said that labor unions are ‘bankrupting’ states. Unions need someone in Washington that will build us up, not tear us down,” said Dean Warsh, Business Manager IBEW 494. “Alex Lasry has shown that commitment by promising to fight to require employers to publicly report all expenditures and the amounts spent in anti-union campaigns, including the union-busting consultants employed. With Alex in Washington, we’ll sleep soundly at night knowing that if someone’s trying to bust our union he’ll fight right beside us fighting back.”
Alex Lasry releases ‘Workers’ Bill of Rights’

Reaffirming his strong support for unions, Alex Lasry released a “Workers’ Bill of Rights” as he pushed for a $15 an hour federal minimum wage, guaranteed paid leave to all workers and a federal ban on so-called “right to work laws.”
Earlier in the campaign, Lasry released a pro-union blueprint to raise wages.
“For far too long, our workers have been punished due to greedy companies prioritizing profits over people,” Lasry said in a statement.
Lasry’s 11-point plan included a call to pay a fair wage to workers in childcare, home health care and long-term care, classifying most gig workers as employees to allow them to join a union and boosting civil fines for violations of federal labor law during union campaigns.
Lasry said he would push at the federal level to outlaw “right-to-work” laws that have been implemented in 28 states, including Wisconsin, which passed the measure in 2015.
