Alex Lasry Announces Endorsement Of Former Dane County Sheriff Dave Mahoney

Milwaukee – Today, former Dane County Sheriff Dave Mahoney endorsed Alex Lasry’s campaign for U.S. Senate, citing his extensive public safety plan to make our communities safer.

“Alex’s comprehensive public safety plan shows his commitment to making our communities safer, and that is exactly what we need in the U.S. Senate,” said Former Dane County Sheriff Dave Mahoney. “We need bold leaders with real plans to address the ongoing violence in our communities, and Alex is the only candidate that has released detailed plans to do just that. We can’t afford another six years of Ron Johnson standing in the way of making our communities safer—we must put a candidate forward that can win in November, and I believe that is Alex Lasry.”

“I’m honored to have the endorsement of a forty-year law enforcement veteran like Sheriff Mahoney,” said Alex Lasry. “Sheriff Mahoney and his colleagues have worked tirelessly on the front lines to make our communities safer, and it’s time we repay that by ensuring that we are reenvisioning and properly funding public safety efforts across our state. That means providing funding to departments to put more officers on the streets, getting serious about investing in community-based crime prevention programs and treatment, banning assault weapons, and legalizing marijuana and expunging the records of those convicted for possession.

Alex Lasry: ‘I’m gonna get to D.C. and not just fight, but deliver’

Isthmus// Dylan Brogan

Alex Lasry wants to flip the script on Republican Sen. Ron Johnson, who has long cast himself as a political outsider in his 12 years in the U.S. Senate.

“I’m not a career politician. I think a lot of times we have these career politicians, like Ron Johnson, who just talk about doing stuff and who don’t actually do anything,” Lasry tells Isthmus in a Zoom interview. “I think that’s one of the biggest problems and biggest frustrations that voters have is the fact that nothing’s getting done.”

“I’ve created thousands of good paying union jobs. I’ve raised wages…helped bring the Democratic convention here to Wisconsin and helped bring a championship here to Wisconsin,” says Lasry. “These are all real, concrete accomplishments that have had a meaningful impact on people’s lives. And I think that track record is something that is in direct contrast with Ron Johnson.”

Lasry points to the creation of the Bucks’ new arena — Fiserv Forum — and the surrounding area known as the Deer District as an example of responsible corporate stewardship that he helped bring to the state.

“This wasn’t just an arena for the Bucks and for the Bucks to play basketball. This was going to be a jobs program. We made sure that over 40 percent of the people who worked on the site were unemployed or underemployed in the previous five years. We made sure that 80 percent of our materials were sourced right here from Wisconsin,” says Lasry. “Over 30 percent of our contracts [went to] minority-owned, women-owned, disadvantaged businesses. We made sure that this entire project was going to be a jobs project and also create a ton of economic development and impact.”

.@AlexLasryWI “Lasry says he’s proud that Fiserv Forum was built with union labor, is staffed by a unionized workforce, and that his campaign staff is unionized, too.”

Yes, and I am the ONLY candidate in this race with a unionized campaign staff.

I don’t just fight—I deliver
