Milwaukee — Ahead of the April 5 elections, the League of Women Voters of Milwaukee County today published its online Spring 2022 Voter Guide via the nonpartisan election resource VOTE411.org. This “one-stop shop” for election information provides candidate information and views on issues, polling place location, and other important election information to help voters in Wisconsin and nationwide navigate the voting process.
“With limited opportunities to learn about the candidates in person, League’s VOTE411.org online Voter Guide is especially important for voters at this time,” said Peggy Creer, president of the League of Women Voters of Milwaukee County. “VOTE411 is the nation’s premiere nonpartisan online election resource.”
Locally, the League posed questions in English and in Spanish to Circuit Court Judge candidates running in Milwaukee County, to all candidates in municipal and school district races in Milwaukee County, and to candidates in municipal races in Waukesha County communities with populations greater than 8,000. The League of Women Voters of Wisconsin posed questions to candidates for Court of Appeals District 2.
“Good government, representative government begins at the local level,” said Creer. “We encourage voters to visit VOTE411.org to make a voting plan so they are prepared to vote confidently on April 5 whether they choose to vote absentee prior to the election or in person on election day.” Voters may request an absentee ballot at https://myvote.wi.gov/en-us/VoteAbsentee.
The League of Women Voters works closely with local elections officials throughout the country to compile the information for VOTE411. VOTE411 helps millions of voters nation-wide each year—many of them young people and first-time voters—learn about candidate stances, look up what’s on their ballot, find their polling place, and more.
In addition to VOTE411, the League encourages active participation in government by conducting voter registration drives and candidate forums, get-out-the-vote social media messaging, and educational public forums on critical public policy issues.
