MADISON, WISCONSIN – To celebrateThank Election Heroes Day on April 12, approximately 100 volunteers across Wisconsin will send thank-you cards to our state’s election officials at the state, county, and local levels to recognize their diligence in administering safe, accessible and secure elections.

The League of Women Voters of Wisconsin, Wisconsin Conservation Voters, Public Citizen and other organizations across the state are coordinating this effort to ensure all municipal and county clerks across Wisconsin receive acknowledgment for their good work.

“Wisconsin has some of the most efficient and secure elections in the country,” said Debra Cronmiller, LWVWI executive director. “We hope this show of support will lift up our excellent clerks during a time when they are being falsely undermined.”

One in five local election administrators says they are likely to leave their jobs before the 2024 presidential election. One in three know an election worker who has left due to threats and barriers to them doing their jobs.

“Voting touches everything in our lives–from the cleanliness of the water we drink to the funding for our children’s schools,” Cronmiller said. “Election workers are essential to our communities and democracy, and we need to celebrate them.”

Volunteers will be turning out to thank our election heroes at dozens of events across the country. Those who would like to join in the celebration can tweet words of appreciation for Election Heroes on April 12 with the hashtag #ThankElectionHeroes.
