MILWAUKEE — Marquette University’s annual Mission Week will be held Feb. 6-13, inviting students, faculty and staff to join in a week of in-person and virtual events that include inspirational speakers, unique opportunities to reflect and more.
The theme of this year’s Mission Week is: “Open to Possibility.”

Sunday, Feb. 6
6 p.m.: Mission Week celebrations will open with an all-university Mass in the Church of the Gesu and online via a livestream.
Monday, Feb. 7
Noon: Marquette Board of Trustees member Nancy Hernandez will speak during a Marquette Women’s Reception. She is the president of the Hispanic Collaborative, where she leads the coordination of more than 150 organizations and individuals seeking to improve economic opportunities for and representation of Latinos in the region. The Hispanic Collaborative was established with a grant from the Greater Milwaukee Foundation and is based out of the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce’s offices.
Wednesday, Feb. 9
11 a.m.: Dr. Elizabeth Angeli, associate professor of English, and Serina Jamison, a graduate student, will lead a Possibility Discernment Lab. Participants create a discernment map that visually represents the decisions you made that brought you to who you are today and the people, places and things that informed those decisions.
Noon: Nancy Yarbrough, founder of FreshStart, and Sister Anne Arabome, SSS, founder of the Bakhita Project, will be the featured speakers for Soup with Substance. Their stories are very different, but both Yarborough and Arabome have answered the call to work with victims of human trafficking.
Thursday, Feb. 10
7:45 a.m.: Vincent Lyles, Marquette University Board of Trustees member, will be the featured guest for the Catching Fire Men’s Breakfast. Lyles is system vice president of community relations at Advocate Aurora Health. He will share different experiences and features of his spiritual journey.
Sunday, Feb. 13
9 p.m.: A week of possibility closes with Mass celebrated in the Chapel of the Holy Family.
