BARABOO, Wisc. – Small family-owned businesses across Wisconsin want to elect Tim Michels for Governor. Today, the Tavern League of Wisconsin endorsed businessman and veteran Tim Michels at an event at Square Tavern in Baraboo.

“With over 5,000 members across the state, the Tavern League of Wisconsin is proud to support Tim Michels for Governor,” said Tavern League of Wisconsin President Keith Kern. “Our industry creates over 161,000 jobs and adds $3.2 billion to our state economy. Tim knows what it takes to read a balance sheet and run a business. Our bar and restaurant owners need a true advocate in the Governor’s Office who will fight to make sure that bars, taverns, and all small businesses are never deemed nonessential.”

Wisconsin bar and restaurant owners were among the hardest hit by the pandemic. Evers’ extended lockdowns went unchecked for months until they were only halted by the Wisconsin Supreme Court. The industry’s recovery was further stifled by workforce shortages perpetuated by Evers and Joe Biden paying people not to work.

“Wisconsin needs a governor who won’t stand in the way of economic growth,” said Tim Michels. “Wisconsin’s bar and restaurant industry contributes to our state economy and our culture. Unlike Tony Evers, I won’t ever dictate if a business is essential or non-essential, because in the Michels administration, we will make clear that all work is essential.”
