FOND DU LAC, Wisc. – Today, the Michels for Governor campaign announced key endorsements by the Wisconsin Dairy Alliance and Venture Dairy Cooperative, groups that advocate for Wisconsin’s dairy industry.
“Dairy is a key part of Wisconsin’s history and its future,” said Tim Michels. “Dairy farmers across the state deserve real, executive leadership in the governor’s office that recognizes farmers are partners in land stewardship and economic development.”
Tony Evers gives lip service to Wisconsin’s dairy tradition, but his administration has consistently treated dairy operations as the enemy. His Department of Natural Resources has put the boot on modern dairy operations with even more red tape. Evers even tried to raise taxes on farmers and manufacturers.
“Tim Michels is the farmers’ choice for Wisconsin Governor. He understands that Wisconsin is known as the ‘Dairy State’ and our dairy farmers work extremely hard to ensure consumers receive nutritious and safe milk, cheese, and butter products throughout the world,” said Cindy Leitner, President of Wisconsin Dairy Alliance. “We need a new governor who understands the importance of getting government out of the way of innovation by streamlining regulation and cutting unnecessary red tape. Tony Evers tried to implement billions of dollars in new regulations on farmers and thanks in part to his policies, in the last several years there have been no new farms created from green space. Michels understands the monumental impact dairy has on the state’s economy and will work hard to reverse course on the anti-farming agenda of Tony Evers.”

We know Tim Michels as governor understands our business, values farmers, and will rein in the out of control state agencies.
