KENOSHA, Wisc. – Today marks the anniversary of the second day of the mob violence in Kenosha, which resulted in more than 100 businesses damaged by rioters. On this day in 2020, local officials begged for more assistance from Tony Evers, citing the mass destruction to the community and the residents who were “heartbroken” and “terrified for their lives.”

Instead of answering their calls for help, Tony Evers told protestors to “wear your masks and keep social distance” after buildings across the city had already burned during the first night of riots. This week, Tony Evers called the riots a “dead issue” and maintained that he has “no regrets” over his disastrous response that left businesses destroyed and a community burned.

“Two years ago, the people of Kenosha were begging for help, but Tony Evers played politics and threw gas on the fire,” said Tim Michels. “Tony Evers wants his failures to be a ‘dead issue,’ but Wisconsinites will never forget his role in fanning the flames.”

Unlike Tony Evers, Tim Michels visited Kenosha to meet with law enforcement, business owners, and community leaders who were impacted by the violence. He was also endorsed by the Kenosha Professional Police Association Board of Directors, who cited his “strong leadership and support for law enforcement.”
