Bronzeville Week, an official City of Milwaukee event now in its 11th year, officially kicks off this weekend with a variety of events. The inaugural event of Bronzeville Week is the HaRUNbee 5K Run/Walk for Healthy Birth Outcomes. Race registration begins at 7:30 a.m. with the race starting at 8:30 a.m. For more information and to register visit https://www.harunbee.com/.

Following the race from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.is the Bronzeville Center for the Arts featuring Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design: Community Mural Project & Milwaukee Art Museum: Kohl’s Art Studio. This family-friendly art experience will take place at 2300 N. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Dr. Additionally, Brunch in Bronzeville will be taking place throughout the area on Saturday from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. with featured restaurants including: Rise & Grind Café, 2737 N. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Dr.; Jewels Caribbean Bar Restaurant & Lounge, 2230 N. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Dr.; and Mi Casa Su Café, 2737 N. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Dr. All three locations will feature a variety of specials and live music.

Opening day will be capped off with the Summer Blues and Jazz Concert Series Finale from 1 – 6 p.m. The finale of the community concert series is hosted by Bader Philanthropies and Northcott Neighborhood House and will occur at 2640 N. 6th St.

On Sunday, August 7 the Bronzeville Cultural & Arts Festival takes center stage from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on North Ave. from King Dr. to 7th St. The festival will feature a variety of local vendors, food, three stages with live entertainment and a kid’s zone, among other happenings. The festival is sponsored by Alderwoman Coggs, the City of Milwaukee, Historic King Drive BID #8, American Family Insurance, the city of Milwaukee Office of Violence Prevention and the Milwaukee County Office of Equity.

Bronzeville Opening Weekend/ADD ONE

The opening weekend of Bronzeville Week also includes Empowerment Sunday, and outdoor combined service featuring King Solomon Baptist Church and Ephesians Missionary Baptist Church. The event will take place on the Gospel Stage at N. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive and North Ave. from 10 a.m. – noon.
