MILWAUKEE, WI – The Milwaukee Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression and the family of Brieon Green will be holding a march on Saturday, August 7, at 5:30 PM at Alfred C Clas Park (Milwaukee County Courthouse facing Wells Street.) During this march, we will be reiterating our same demands as follows:
-
The public release of all the officer’s names who arrested Green and handled his booking
-
The release of the body camera footage of all 7 officers who interacted with Green during his arrest and inside the county jail
-
The release of the footage from street cameras that captured Green’s arrest
-
The release of the footage from the squad car in which Green was arrested
-
The release of the footage from the cameras inside the county jail to ensure that Green was booked, medically cleared, and alive prior to being jailed
-
Chairwoman Marcelia Nicholson to open a formal investigation into Green’s death
It’s been over a month since Green’s untimely death in the custody of the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office. Since then, the Sheriff’s Office has not been transparent with Green’s family. These issues of transparency and accountability continue to be an issue with Milwaukee’s law enforcement, namely the Sheriff’s Office and the Milwaukee Police Department. The Milwaukee Alliance demands a solution to issues of transparency through the creation of a policy that in cases of police misconduct requires the public release of officer names within 24 hours and footage within 48 hours.
Justice for Brieon Green! 24, 48 – Release the Names, Release the Tapes!
The Milwaukee Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression (MAARPR) campaigns against police crimes committed primarily against the poor and Black, Indigeneous, and people of color. We demand the creation of a civilian police accountability council, or CPAC, to ensure that our community is in direct control of our police force.
