Milwaukee, WI – On Wednesday, October 26, at 3:00PM, the Justice for Brieon Green Coalition will be holding a rally and picket outside of the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office (821 W State St.). This event marks 4 months since Green’s death while held in Milwaukee County Jail.

The Justice for Brieon Green Coalition is demanding transparency from the Sheriff’s Office. According to Green’s family, the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office has concluded their investigation into the death of Green, but they cannot release the official cause of death until the Sheriff’s Office signs off on their investigation. Besides this obstacle, the Sheriff’s Office is refusing to answer any of the calls Green’s family makes. The coalition is demanding full transparency now! Green’s family deserves answers. No one should go this long without knowing why a loved one passed.

As previously stated, it has been 4 months since Green’s death. The Sheriff’s Office was quick to label his death a suicide. Once Green’s family began demanding answers, this narrative shifted and the Sheriff’s Office began avoiding the case altogether. Given that the newly elected sheriff, Denita Ball, ran on a platform to build community partnerships and trust, she has the opportunity to do so by offering Green’s family full transparency in this case.

Join us tomorrow, October 26, at 3:00PM, as we rally outside of the Sheriff’s Office in an effort to get justice for Brieon Green!

The Milwaukee Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression (MAARPR) campaigns against police crimes committed primarily against the poor and Black, Indigeneous, and people of color. We demand the creation of a civilian police accountability council, or CPAC, to ensure that our community is in direct control of our police force.
