President José G. Pérez today announced a new list of assignments for the Common Council’s standing committees (copy attached). Effective with the start of the May 10, 2022, Council cycle, Pérez said his appointments strike a balance between creating a new policy direction while ensuring a continued veteran presence in leadership.
“This was a difficult list to put together,” Pérez said. “With former President Johnson now mayor and Ald. Nik Kovac about to take on a new role, I’ve had to ask my colleagues for an even bigger lift than usual.”
“I have always promised myself and my colleagues that those called to lead this Council would be representative of the entire community and I think these appointments reflect that.”
“I want to thank all the members of the Council for their conversations leading up to the creation of this list and I look forward to getting to work with them,” he said.
