MILWAUKEE – Today the County Board of Supervisors adopted (13-4) a proposal by Chairwoman Marcelia Nicholson to allocate $50,000 to the Office of the County Clerk and Milwaukee County Election Commission to increase voter outreach and education efforts.
“Voting is a sacred right protected by the Constitution. Protecting equitable access to cast a ballot is of the upmost importance to my office,” said County Clerk George Christenson. “These monies help our office reach the public in a variety of ways. Whether through print, social media, radio, or text messages we strive to ensure that every eligible voter has access to accurate information on how to make their voice heard on election day.”
Clerk Christenson has led several initiatives to increase voter turnout in Milwaukee County. His efforts contributed to a 14% increase in voter registration throughout Milwaukee County between January 1, 2020 and December 1, 2020.
These funds will be implemented for the November 8, 2022 General Election.
