MILWAUKEE—Mayor Cavalier Johnson’s campaign announced today he has earned the support of Services Employees International Union (SEIU) Wisconsin State Council and the Milwaukee Area Service and Hospitality (MASH) Workers Union.

“Cavalier Johnson is the Mayor we need as we organize to build a Milwaukee for all of us through transformation of service industry employment,” said Brena Frary, SEIU Wisconsin State Council President. “We believe he will be the Mayor who stands with service workers at our rallies, marches and picket lines, and who then carries our voices into the corridors of power. Milwaukee service workers will elect the next Mayor, and we are mobilizing to ensure it is Cavalier Johnson, from our worksites and our neighborhoods to the ballot box and the halls of government.”

“We imagine a Milwaukee where the tens of thousands of hospitality, food service, cleaning, and security workers count on living wages, dignity and rights on the job, and a voice in the workplace and our industries, no matter where we work or who employs us,” said Peter Rickman, President of MASH Workers Union. “We support Cavalier Johnson because he shares our vision and will work with us to make it a reality.  As the next Mayor of Milwaukee, Cavalier Johnson will bring together employers and workers to craft industry-wide accords for good jobs and workforce solutions that will transform service industry work, our livelihoods and our city.”

“I’m deeply honored to have the support of the working women and men of these two great labor organizations,” said Mayor Johnson. “Our shared vision of Milwaukee’s future is built on inclusion and the creation of family-supporting jobs available to residents across the entire city. With their help and our work together, we will win this campaign and make Milwaukee safer, stronger, and more prosperous.”
