MILWAUKEE – As violent crime continues to rise in Milwaukee, journalists are spending more and more time at the scenes of carjackings, armed robberies and murders. The experience can be overwhelming at times — how do you get your job done while balancing the story, the sensitivity of the victims and your own personal safety?

The Milwaukee Press Club and WisPolitics.com, will hold a Newsmaker at Night panel discussion featuring area journalists who will discuss how they are able to cover crime scenes safely while maintaining sensitivity to the impact of crime on victims, their families and the surrounding community.

This event will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 29 at the Newsroom Pub, 137 E. Wells St. Light hors d’oeuvres will be provided. This is a free event and seating is limited so registration is required and can be done here.

Bruce Harrison, multimedia journalist for TMJ4 News, will moderate the discussion among a panel of journalists who have seen it all. With combined experience of 80 plus years in the field, they’ll answer questions and share tips on how to report under difficult circumstances.

The panel:
Ashley Luthern – Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
Andrew Triplett – TMJ4 News
Amanda St. Hilaire – FOX6 News
Kent Wainscott – WISN 12 News
