MILWAUKEE (JAN. 4, 2022) – Do you know a high school girl interested in building her leadership skills and exploring possible careers, and who wants to earn college credit at the same time?

The Summer Leadership Academy, June 19-24, 2022, has been re-imagined and expanded into a 6-day, 5-night residential program.  The 2022 Academy’s creative new format offers leadership development activities in the morning and in-depth career exploration sessions in the afternoon. Students can choose from the track that best fits their interests – Arts and Design; Humanities and Business; or STEM – and will learn from Mount Mary faculty about the programs and pathways available within each area of study.

Other topics for the program include:

  • Skills for College and Beyond
  • Leadership Development
  • Confidence and the Importance of Sisterhood
  • Introduction to Financial Aid
  • Finding the Right Fit in a College
  • Networking with Young Professionals

Upon completion of the program, participants are awarded two college credits at Mount Mary.

Past participants in the Academy have left the experience with deepened confidence and resilience, stronger networking skills and a greater ability to engage with and advocate for others from diverse backgrounds.

“The Summer Leadership Academy was right up my alley,” said 2021 participant Eva Billeb, currently a sophomore at Hartford Union High School in Hartford, Wis. “I loved every minute of it and honestly it really made me feel closer to becoming someone who will be able to make those important decisions as to what I want to do.”

The application process is now open and will close on March 1, 2022. For more information or to access an application, visit http://www.mtmary.edu/sla.
