Appleton, Wis. – Nelson for Wisconsin today released a new video highlighting his return to his former workplace in the Wisconsin State Capitol Building to reflect on his acclaimed sit-in during the 2007 legislative session. Nelson recalled spending six days at his desk on the Assembly floor in protest of a three-month budget impasse which blocked crucial funding for Wisconsin students’ financial aid, all the while calling on his colleagues in both parties to bring the delay to an end. He also recalls the extraordinary support he received from friends and strangers, who provided bedding, food, and a bouquet of flowers to help him and to thank him for his service.

Nelson said, “This was one of the early highlights of my career in public service, and a perfect example of my willingness to challenge both parties for the sake of the public good.”
