APPLETON –  U.S. Senate candidate Tom Nelson issued this statement in response to today’s failed vote on the Women’s Health Protection Act:

“Today’s failed vote to codify Roe v. Wade means Wisconsin would revert back to our barbaric 1849 statute that treats women as sub-humans and throws doctors in jail. We know women’s lives are at stake, particularly low-income women, rape victims and incest victims, while wealthy women will be able to continue to access their right to choose. Senator Ron Johnson has put the lives of Wisconsin women in danger with his vote today and his belief that Justice Alito’s abominable leaked opinion was ‘well-written.’ We must replace him and break the filibuster to protect women and their reproductive rights once and for all.”
