Appleton, WI – U.S. Senate candidate Tom Nelson this morning responded to the leaked decision of the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn Roe vs. Wade:

“Reproductive choice and women’s rights are on the ballot this Fall. I will beat Ron Johnson and Democrats will have a real majority in the U.S. Senate. And then we will eliminate the filibuster, expand the Supreme Court, and codify Roe. Enough is enough.”

State Senator Kelda Roys, former statewide director of NARAL, said:

“Wisconsin’s 1849 criminal abortion ban is still on the books. With Roe on the verge of being overturned, we need bold, immediate action in the Senate to protect women’s lives and freedom. Tom Nelson has always been a pro-choice champion, never wavering in his determination to ensure that women have access to abortion care.”

Nelson has a 100 percent NARAL and Planned Parenthood lifetime rating as a member of the Wisconsin state Assembly (2005-11), and has the longest proven track record of any Senate candidate standing up to Republican attacks on women’s reproductive rights despite coming from a red county.
