APPLETON, Wis. – Outagamie County Executive and pro-labor populist U.S. Senate candidate Tom Nelson is outraged to see a Democrat Senate Forum in Chequamegon canceled next weekend after most all other Senate candidates canceled or declined. The Chequamegon Dems, representing critical Ashland and Bayfield Counties, said, “Due to candidate declines, dropouts and a recent cancellation within this remaining group of 4, we will no longer be holding our planned US Senate Forum on June 18. We will focus the event on our local state senate and assembly candidates and 7th CD candidate instead.”

Nelson responded,

“For candidates in the most important Senate race in the country to not want to attend a critical forum in a key part of Wisconsin is gutless and beyond disappointing, especially to the hardworking Chequamegon Dems who often rightfully feel we abandon voters north of Highway 29. I had looked forward to debating the issues important to Ashland and Bayfield County voters, including how I’m the only candidate to fight against Line 5 and testified on it to the DNR. It’s a shame certain candidates would rather hide behind their self-funded millions in TV ads or so-called frontrunner status than have an actual forum with real voters.”
