Schoerner, Wellens bring backgrounds in food production, packaging, finance and H.R.
NEW NORTH, January 26, 2022 – Two area business leaders – Jodi Schoerner of Masters Gallery Foods and Vanessa Wellens of Amcor—have joined the board of directors of New North Inc., the regional economic development corporation for the 18 counties of Northeast Wisconsin, the organization’s board development committee announced.
“Jodi and Vanessa are two strong additions to the New North board of directors,” says Barb LaMue, president and CEO of New North Inc. “We will benefit greatly from their perspectives in two pillar industries of our region, food production and packaging, along with their backgrounds in finance and human resources.”
Jodi Schoerner is the chief financial officer at Masters Gallery Foods, a position she has held for the past five years. Founded in 1974, Masters Gallery Foods has grown to service grocery chains, wholesalers, restaurants and distributors nationally with a full line of cheese and cheese-related products from its headquarters in Plymouth, Wisconsin. She first joined the company in August 2004 as controller, ascending to vice president of finance three years later, before promotion to her current role in January 2017.
Schoerner also currently serves as secretary/treasurer of the Sheboygan County Economic Development Corporation (SCEDC). She previously spent the first 12 years of her professional career in accounting and tax/financial reporting positions with Deloitte, Rust Environmental Services and Fresh Brands Distributing.
Schoerner holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and business administration from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, and has been a certified CPA since June 1995.
Vanessa Wellens is the vice president of human resources and communications at Amcor, a global packaging company, working from its Neenah, Wisconsin, location. She first joined the then-Bemis Company in December 2003, and later was promoted to the positions of director of global talent management, human resources director for North America, and vice president of human resource-Bemis North America. Wellens transitioned to Amcor Flexibles North America in June 2019 when the company’s acquisition of Bemis was finalized.
Wellens holds a bachelor’s of business administration (BBA) degree, with a focus in human resources management/personnel administration, from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
