“The draft Supreme Court opinion released Monday night overturning Roe v. Wade and eliminating the constitutional right to an abortion is an attack on the freedom and the future of all Americans,” NextGen America President Cristina Tzintzún Ramirez said. “For more than 50 years, women in this country have been empowered to decide their own futures and shape their own destinies. That ends with the end of Roe.

“If abortion rights are unraveled, young women in America will face a nightmare in which their bodies are controlled and their futures are decided for them,” Tzintzún Ramirez said. “But the largest, most diverse generation in American history will not stand for that. They will rise up against it.

“Young people in recent years have stood up for their rights and joined our democratic process like no other time in American history. They have shown their power,” Tzintzún Ramirez said. “In the face of this unbelievable injustice, they will rise again — in 2022 and beyond — to demand a government that protects fundamental rights rather than trampling on them.

“This draft decision shows how close we are to a world where abortion is illegal, and it shows us what’s at stake in this year’s election. If Republicans win, they’ll push abortion bans nationwide and move to expand the extreme anti-choice laws already passed at the state level,” Tzintzún Ramirez said. “Young Americans are ready to fight back at the ballot box, and NextGen will be there to support them every step of the way.”
