Sister Bay, WI (September 19, 2022) – Local activist group Northern Door Activism has invited three pro-choice candidates and a local area expert, Dr. Kristin Lyerly OB-GYN, to participate in a panel discussion on the current state of women’s reproductive rights and abortion care access in Wisconsin. This event follows a successful women’s reproductive rights march hosted by the group in July, which attracted around 250 local demonstrators and garnered support from over 30 local businesses. As the upcoming midterm election approaches, the organizers are eager to bring a discussion to the community surrounding the important issue of protecting women’s fundamental rights. Candidate participants include Lieutenant Governor candidate Sara Rodriguez, State Senate candidate Andrea Gage-Michaels and Wisconsin Assembly candidate Roberta Thelen.

Each candidate in attendance will be on the local Door County ballots on November 8th running against staunch anti-abortion incumbents or candidates. Northern Door Activism believes that this upcoming election is vital to protecting and strengthening women’s rights in Wisconsin. They believe that reproductive care is essential to a woman’s quality of life and access to healthcare is a fundamental human right.

The event will take place on Wednesday, September 28, at Peach Barn Brewery in Sister Bay. The panel discussion will begin at 5:30 pm followed by a candidate Q&A and reception where donations are welcomed. Guests of all ages are invited to attend anytime between 5-8 pm to enjoy provided food and refreshments. Candidate yard signs and additional informational materials will also be available for guests.
