Washington, D.C. – The Barnes Brigade added two more supporters of ‘Defund the Police.’
According to The Washington Free Beacon: Two of Mandela Barnes’ biggest donors are major funders of the “defund the police” movement and bankrolled a successful campaign to remove law enforcement from schools in crime-plagued Oakland, California.
Barnes’ leadership committee raked in 13 percent of its donations this year from millionaire real estate developer Wayne Jordan and his wife, Quinn Delaney, according to Federal Election Commission records. They contributed $10,000 in May to Barnes’ leadership committee Leading the PAC and $5,800 to his campaign.
The couple is heavily involved in left-wing and anti-police activism through their charity, the Akonadi Foundation, which argues that police departments should be defunded entirely.
Statement from NRSC Spokeswoman Lizzie Litzow: “Mandela Barnes may not admit that he wants to defund the police, but the company he keeps speaks for him. First, he refuses to oppose this wildly irresponsible and unpopular idea. Then, he headlines an event for the Center for Popular Democracy and embraces Ilhan Omar. Now, two of his biggest donors run a charity that argues that police departments should be defunded entirely. Barnes needs to start putting Wisconsinites’ safety before his own radical political agenda and the interests of his radical brigade.”
