WAUSAU – Steven Olikara, candidate for the U.S. Senate in Wisconsin, releases a statement on the draft Supreme Court decision on abortion from the campaign trail in Wausau.
“Fighting for dignity means fighting for a woman’s right to protect herself and freedom to control her body. Overturning Roe v Wade is a real threat to this freedom in America.
In Wisconsin, an 1849 law would go into effect, criminalizing all abortions, except when a mother’s life is at risk. This is unacceptable, even to many conservatives.
Let’s also look at how we got here. The way we fill the Supreme Court has lost all credibility. The lives of millions of people shouldn’t hinge on the personal health of Justices in their 80s. It’s time for Supreme Court term limits.”
