The liberal Opportunity Wisconsin is hitting U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Oshkosh, in a new digital ad that says he’s “only taking care of himself and other rich people.”
The group, which says it has now spent more than $5 million since the start of 2021 targeting Johnson, said the latest ad buy is five figures and will run statewide on digital, as well as premium video platforms such as Hulu.
The spot features a woman identified as Sara T., of Eau Claire. Sara says she and her husband play by the rules and aren’t looking for a handout, but a level playing field. She says Johnson pushed through a tax law that raises taxes on most working people, but gives “huge tax breaks to the super rich like him.” She adds Johnson has doubled his wealth since taking office.
“That’s not right,” she says. “Tell Ron Johnson to stop voting for tax laws that benefit himself.”
