Today we received the results of the Dunn County referendum question that asked voters “Shall Congress and the President of the United States enact into law the creation of a publicly financed, non-profit, national health insurance program that would fully cover medical care costs for all Americans?” With 51.4% approval, the referendum passed! The passing of this referendum in a rural, conservative leaning Wisconsin county proves that voters are tired of a broken, predatory health insurance system that reaps huge profits when we age and get sick; something every American does. Notably, democrats Governor Tony Evers and Senate candidate Mandela Barnes received 39% and 36% of the vote respectively in Dunn County last night. This proves that the desire for drastic change in our health insurance system is not at all a partisan issue, it is a human one. Thank you to the people of Dunn county for leading the way. Our Wisconsin Revolution will build on this victory and not rest until health care in the United States is reflexively accepted as an obvious human right.
