Fitchburg, Wisconsin – (June 1 st 2022) – Today the delegates of Painters and Allied Trades District Council 7 unanimously voted to endorse Governor Tony Evers in his re-election this November.

Governor Evers has continually shown his support for union families throughout his first term as Governor. Governor Evers led the state during the pandemic by working to keep families safe and ensuring our members were essential workers critical to the economy of the state of Wisconsin.

Governor Evers also recognizes that supporting tax relief for working families kept Wisconsin rolling during the pandemic. As a lifelong educator Governor Evers also realizes the value that registered apprenticeship brings to the employers in Wisconsin and has supported expanding apprenticeship opportunities in Wisconsin.

Governor Evers has been working in partnership with Painters and Allied Trades District Council 7 to combat illegal business practice of misclassifying workers in the construction industry. This practice puts our members and contractor employers at a competitive disadvantage and costs Wisconsin taxpayers millions of dollars each year. In 2019, Governor Evers took action and formed the worker misclassification taskforce to make sure cheating contractors are held accountable for their actions.

Worker misclassification is cheating, and cheaters shouldn’t win.
