CHIPPEWA FALLS — Today, State Senator and nominee for Congress Brad Pfaff traveled to the Chippewa Falls region to tour a local farm and discuss the challenges that Wisconsin farmers are facing.
“In this district and across Wisconsin, farmers are facing high costs and little support from Washington. We don’t have any representation on the House or Senate Agriculture Committee, so it’s no wonder we’ve been left behind,” said Brad Pfaff. “I’m the proud son of a La Crosse County dairy farm, and I led the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection, so I know firsthand the struggles our farming communities are facing. We need a strong voice at that policymaking table, which is why I’m running to bring these experiences and homegrown values to the House Agriculture Committee.”
In the race for Wisconsin’s third congressional district, it’s clear that Brad is the candidate for western and central Wisconsin farmers. Raised on a dairy farm, he understands how farmers are losing out on more and more of the consumer dollar. As the leading agriculture voice in the state government, Brad was a fierce advocate for farmers’ mental health. And as a candidate for Congress, Brad has rolled out real solutions that he is committed to delivering for Wisconsin farmers.
In Congress, Brad will fight to:
- Federal tax policy that recognizes farm transition from one generation to the next
- Federal investment in agricultural cover crops
- Federal investment in USDA conservation programs, including farmer-led watershed programs
- Incentives that allow individual farmers to capture more of the consumer dollar along the agriculture supply chain
- Federal investment in the agriculture supply chain
- Ensure USDA enforces organic standard rules on non-compliers
- Modernize the federal milk marketing order system
- Expand markets for agriculture products locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally
