LA CROSSE — Last week, President Biden signed into law legislation that invests in farming programs, rural clean energy access, and energy efficiency. While Derrick continues to bash this legislation, today State Senator and nominee for Congress Brad Pfaff applauded this commonsense solution that will directly benefit Wisconsin farmers and working families.

“At a time when energy costs are up and rural America feels left behind, I’m proud to stand up and support this legislation while Derrick continues to ramble on Twitter instead of talking about real solutions,” said Brad Pfaff. “Growing up on a dairy farm, I know how threats like rising temperatures and extreme weather can impact rural communities. Climate resiliency, investments in energy efficiency, and increased funding for farming conservation programs is exactly what Wisconsin farmers need, and this legislation delivers.”

Brad is the clear choice for Wisconsin farmers. Raised on his family dairy farm in northern La Crosse County, Brad understands that rural Wisconsin needs solutions, not Derrick Van Orden. Brad has fought for farming communities for years:

  • As an appointee in the Obama administration at the USDA, Brad worked to provide farmers in Wisconsin with the funding, assistance, and support they needed to thrive.

  • As Governor Evers’ Secretary-Designee of Agriculture, Brad saw that Republicans hadn’t funded a program designed to prevent farmer suicides. He criticized Madison Republicans for not doing their job and out of spite, Brad’s appointment was voted down. But he didn’t quit and one year from the day he was elected to be in the State Senate.

  • At the Department of Agriculture Trade and Consumer Protection, Brad advocated for farmers’ mental health, increased market opportunities for farmers, and rural prosperity through broadband, healthcare, and education.

  • Brad has also held senior positions with the US Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency, where he worked for the best interest of family farmers, consumers, rural residents, and communities.
