Vote tallying is underway in Wisconsin for the spring election.

There were no statewide races on today’s ballot, though several contests are being closely watched by Capitol insiders.

2nd District Court of Appeals Judge Lori Kornblum – an appointee of Dem Gov. Tony Evers – faces Waukesha County Judge Maria Lazar for a full term on the Waukesha-based court.

In Milwaukee, acting Mayor Cavalier Johnson faces former Ald. Bob Donovan in a race that could result in the city’s first elected Black mayor. Meanwhile, former state Rep. Josh Zepnick is running for the Milwaukee County Board after he was pushed out of the Assembly Dem caucus for drunkenly kissing two women at party events without their consent.

And state Rep. Samantha Kerkman, R-Salem, is on the ballot for Kenosha County exec. If she wins, Kerkman would have to resign her seat in the Assembly.
