Sen. Pfaff and Rep. Rodriguez Join Protect Our Care on Nationwide Bus Tour to Celebrate The Inflation Reduction Act’s Historic Measures to Drive Down Health Care Costs for Wisconsinites

EAU CLAIRE, WI  — This morning, Protect Our Care’s Care Force One arrived in Eau Claire to highlight how the Inflation Reduction Act’s measures will lower premiums and prescription drug costs for millions of Americans. The groundbreaking legislation works to reduce racial inequities in health care, improve care for seniors, strengthen families, and save lives. During today’s event, Wisconsin State Senator Brad Pfaff and State Representative Sara Rodriguez explained how the bill builds on the success of the Affordable Care Act and lowers prescription drug prices for seniors.

“As a parent with a child with type one diabetes, I understand firsthand how skyrocketing drug costs impact working families, and how important it is to provide relief to families who depend on life-saving medication. That’s why as State Senator, I introduced legislation to create Wisconsin’s first-ever Office of Prescription Drug Affordability,” said State Senator Brad Pfaff. “And that’s why I’ll keep fighting to build on the success of the Inflation Reduction Act and drive down health care costs for families in Wisconsin and across the country.”

“I believe that no one should have to go into debt just to get the medical care they need. As a representative in the Assembly, I led the fight to expand BadgerCare,” said State Representative Sara Rodriguez. “I will continue to fight for affordable, quality health care access for all.”

Pfaff and Rodriguez were joined at today’s event by local educator Julia B. and national health care advocate Laura Packard, who shared their personal experiences navigating the healthcare system and lauding both the ACA and Inflation Reduction Act.

Later today, the “Lower Costs, Better Care” tour will continue in Saint Paul, Minnesota where Protect Our Care will be joined by Senator Tina Smith and Representatives Angie Craig and Dean Phillips. For more information, please visit protectourcare.org/bus-tour/.
