The tragedy that happened at the Waukesha Christmas Parade on November 21, 2021, was at first senseless. As details emerged, it became clear that Darrell Brooks should have never been behind the wheel to commit this tragedy. This occurred, in large part, due to the inappropriately low bail set by the office of District Attorney Chisholm.

In light of the facts, Representative Allen sent the attached letter to Governor Evers today and released the following statement:

“I support the citizens that asked Governor Evers to remove District Attorney Chisholm due to his neglect of duty per Wis. Stat. § 17.06 (3) and 17.16 (3). It is concerning that Governor Evers chooses to hide behind technicalities of the citizen complaint and refuses to move forward with a hearing on this issue. I have written to the Governor to address this issue.

“I also encourage the citizens of Milwaukee County to call the governor’s bluff and address the technical deficiencies that he is hiding behind, and then submit the revised complaint. The security of our southeastern Wisconsin community is important and deserving of this effort. The people of Wisconsin and Waukesha deserve better from their governor.”
